Chalong

Chalong is where Phuket actually lives. Wrapped around Chalong Bay and the island's busiest pier, the launch point for Coral Island, Phi Phi and dive trips, it sits at the crossroads of the routes to Rawai, Kata and the hilltop Big Buddha, with the revered Wat Chalong temple at its heart. International schools, the hospital and big-box retail cluster here, making it the island's most convenient base rather than a postcard beach. That practicality is exactly the investment thesis. Purchase prices undercut the west-coast resorts, and long-term rentals to school families, the dive community and Tiger Muay Thai's global intake are cited at 6-8% gross, among Phuket's best net yields. The trade-off is that, being amenity- rather than beach-led, capital growth tends to trail the prime coastal enclaves, so the case is income-first. Ownership follows Thai rules: condos freehold within the 49% building quota, villas through leasehold or company structures since foreigners cannot own land.
