About Nea Alikarnassos

Nea Alikarnassos is a busy municipality immediately east of Heraklion's centre and right beside the airport, founded by Asia Minor Greek refugees in the 1920s and now one of the city's more vibrant, densely populated suburbs. It has a lively local scene of tavernas, cafés and nightlife, multiple schools and a younger working population, with Karteros beach a short distance to the east. Property is among the cheapest in the Heraklion area (~€1,600–€2,000/m²), appealing to value buy-to-let investors and budget relocators. Rental demand is steady and year-round from local tenants, with realistic gross yields around 4–4.5% and some additional airport-driven short-let interest (subject to Golden-Visa rental rules for qualifying buyers).
