Bodrum Town curves around two bays beneath the 15th-century Bodrum Castle, home to the renowned Museum of Underwater Archaeology, on the site of ancient Halicarnassus and its Mausoleum, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Milta Marina, bazaar and Cumhuriyet Caddesi 'Bar Street' make it the social and commercial heart of the peninsula. There is no rail anywhere in Bodrum, so the town's dolmuş hub and otogar feed the whole coast, with Bodrum–Milas Airport (BJV) ~34 km away and ferries to Kos and Datça. Buyers find a walkable, characterful, summer-charged market, town and harbour-view apartments priced in euros and dollars, prized for short-let income and lifestyle rather than for hard-currency capital growth.
